Jean Kawecki

“A major part of my work is concerned with psychological themes – the dealing with
despair, the rebirth or coming back to life and the search for meaning.

It is apparent that my interest in modern dance has influenced many of the pieces, but except in the rare cases, they cannot be described as ‘dance sculptures.’ For me, the human body is wonderfully expressive – the tilt of the head, the gesture of a hand conveying feeling and emotion.

The human scene remains, for me, a fascinating and inexhaustible theme.”
